Karina Garmendez

From all things artsy to pursuing research in Human-Computer Interaction. Hi, I’m Karina! I will be joining Carleton in Fall 2025 through the Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) Master’s program.
My journey in STEM began at the University of Guelph where I completed my Bachelor’s degree in Computing, majoring in Co-op Software Engineering and minoring in Music, specializing in jazz guitar. My previous experiences in music, film, visual art, and the performing arts allowed me to interpret and solve computing problems through an alternate lens and translate technical concepts and jargon to stakeholders in my co-op internships.
I am interested in accessibility, HCI, and digital games research and wish to potentially combine these interests with cyber security and virtual reality (VR).
